Ci sono tool di geolocalizzazione smart e altri idiot. Uno dei tool smart è Plazes. Il client Plazes identifica la tua posizione automaticamente tramite la sorgente wifi alla quale sei connesso.
Plazer Software automatically detects your location based on fingerprinting your local network. So once you've got the Plazer on your laptop you can turn autostart and auto-plazing on and Plazes will know that you are at home, at work or at Heathrow Airport (Unfortunately Plazer can't tell you where your luggage is).Fire Eagle è invece un tool idiota, è un location broker, al quale bisogna far sapere la propria posizione. In compenso fornisce delle API, che Plazes non ha. E poi è sviluppato da Yahoo! Abbiamo parlato spesso di come integrare Fire Eagle e Movable Type, tramite l'apposito plug-in.
Ebbene adesso è possibile far si che sia Plazes a indicare a Fire Eagle la propria posizione. E' sufficiente collegare i due tool e il gioco è fatto. Questo significa che non sarà più necessario indicare manualmente la mia località su Fire Eagle (e quindi su MT). Sarà Plazes a fornirla, automaticamente, appena identificata la sorgente wifi.
